I like the look of Liva Arcade, because rather than necessarily being retro, it allows us to get new games that have different values than the big budget 3d-o-fests, and will hopefully spawn some interesting, well thought-out material, as opposed to relying on gurfx. Though SF2 and Doom being big sellers does seem to support the Captain's retro suggestion.

WHAT HAPPEN!? DETI: I think Microsoft are making a decent fist of it at the moment. Grabbing exclusives like Splinter Cell, pushing ahead with Xbox Live etc. They also have the possibility of slashing prices and producing value bundles once the PS3 does actually appear.

SPEEEEEAAAK! Posts: 15,785 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: February 23, 2005	Well PS2 had a pretty poor launch, and it only had to go up against a distinctly underperforming Dreamcast at the time. Some brave souls bought one even before MGS2 came out, probably for the DVD playback. The situation is quite different this time though. Eggbox is no Dreamcast, Blu-Ray is no DVD and the Wii is a dark horse that looks set to ride the same wave as the DS, selling cheap and cheerful games against a technically superior but expensive product.

If it showed films in 3D hologram form or something, then people would get the difference between HD and DVD, but as it is I can't see most people giving a shit. Of course there is a vast swathe of people who regard all consoles as "Playstations", but that also means that they are likely to buy an Xbox Playstation instead.
